Touring around Australia with Shaza Leigh,
Lindsay Butler OAM and The Butler Showband is one of my favourite
past-times. We go to amazing places and see fantastic things and we have
so much fun together, like a big family. It seems a shame not to share
our experiences with everyone, so we (CelebritE News) decided to add
this page to give you a glimpse into our wonderful and often crazy
world.
So, after each LBS Tour the CelebritE News team will put together
collages, pictorials, slideshows etc with short explanations for you to peruse, we
hope you enjoy them.
Oh and by the way, why did we call this page Butler's Adventure Tours?
That is the endearing term we use whenever we get lost or something else
crazy happens; Shaza says "Welcome to the Butler Adventure Tours, we'll
take you places!" and then we all have a great belly laugh:)

The Great Southern Tour
Barham, Hindmarsh Valley,
Kilmore,
Deloraine, Ulverstone, Launceston,
Huonville & Hobart

There were hundreds of photographs given to
me from the entourage that were taken over the 3 weeks we were on tour, far too many to put
up on this page. Hopefully by the next CelebritE News edition I will
have a couple of slideshows up for you to look at!
Meanwhile I would like to give credit to all the photographers for
allowing me to use their photos in this presentation; Shaza Leigh,
Lachlan Butler, Toni Cook, Chloe Cook, Scott Cook, Trevor Letton, Bill
McMahon, and Graeme Morris. Oh and me of course!!!

Tasmanian Tour 2011
Through Helen Butts' eyes
(one of the entourage)...
Lindsay Butler & Shaza Leigh with the 2011 Butler Showband started their Tasmanian Tour arriving in Devonport on the Spirit of Tasmania
Thursday 24th February after sailing on a day trip from Melbourne.
They made their way to Legana (near
Launceston) where they would be
basing themselves for the northern end of the states' tour.
Their first show was Friday 25th February at Deloraine RSL Club, and
this was the first time that Shaza and Lindsay had taken their show
there. I'm sure it will not be the last time as the show was first class
and the audience were treated to, and really appreciated some of the
best Australian country music performances from Lindsay Butler, Shaza
Leigh, Peggy Gilchrist, Trevor Letton
(All from Tamworth NSW)
and Ashley Cook
(from Thangool Central QLD). They were well
supported by Toni Cook on merchandising & as the tour photographer with
assistance from Chloe Cook and Lachlan Butler. The spotlight control was
well handled by Scott Cook - well done, Chloe, Lachie and Scottie. I
would like to add the three of them were the best behaved young people I
have come across in a long time, you make your parents proud!
On Saturday night the second show was held at the Ulverstone Bowls Club
with a wonderful meal supplied by Molly, thank you Molly - again a very
successful show.
The Sunday afternoon show was held at The Australian Italian Club,
Launceston and after another great show there was a BBQ with a few
friends in the evening. I believe a very successful northern tour!
Then the sightseeing adventures begun...
Monday, the LBS crew visited Grindelwald, a small Swiss village a short
drive from Legana. There they played in the lake kayaking, aqua biking
and bouncing in the aqua bubble, then lunch and a stroll up to the look
out. Next was Cataract Gorge and riding the longest single span chair
lift in the world and then a little shopping
(for Lindsay's birthday presents)
in Launceston, and back to Legana for another BBQ tea and early to bed.
Tuesday, the crew visited the Don River Railway at Don near Devonport
where the wind was coming off ice and then up to Cradle Mountain and
Dove Lake where it snowed on them!!!
(For some of the crew this was the first time they had ever seen snow!)
Wednesday morning all went to the Tasmanian Zoo - the only accredited
Zoo in Tasmania - they all enjoyed the morning before heading off to the
East Coast travelling through Avoca, Fingal, St Marys, Bicheno and
Swansea ending up at Triabunna for the night.
Thursday the crew all travelled to Port Arthur for the day, again nearly
freezing to death and onto Hobart where they stayed for the next few
days. I would like to thank David and Melva whose generosity was
overwhelming - David gave us his house to use while the shows were in
the Hobart area.
On Friday we celebrated Lindsay's birthday...all day, I'm not saying how
old he is, but he couldn't have been in a better state to celebrate.
Lindsay, may you see many more. That night the show was held at
Huonville club to a very receptive audience.
Saturday morning most of the crew went to the Salamanca Market which is
world famous, they thought it was a good experience and glad that they
went.
The last show was held at The Senior Citizen Club at Clarence near
Hobart, the audience were treated to a great show again. What a fabulous
way to end the Lindsay Butler & Shaza Leigh Tasmanian Tour for 2011.
On Sunday morning every one headed back to Launceston through Patina,
Cressy, Longford and Perth and up early Monday morning to board the
Spirit of Tasmania by 8am to go home after three weeks on the road.
Shaza's father and mother, who come from the Gold Coast, and her
Grandmother
(down from Proserpine, Far North QLD)
who is in her eighties, joined the
crew on tour. Also travelling with them were good friends, Bill & Pam from Goulbourn and Robyn & Graeme from Tamworth who
all acted as road crew...many hands make light work!
I'm hoping that in two years time the Lindsay Butler & Shaza Leigh Show
will come back to Tasmania. I hope that members of the LBS club will get
behind them and help promote the show. That is the only way we will
continue to have first class acts come to Tasmania as it costs so much
to come across Bass Strait.
I would like to thank Lindsay, Shaza and Kay
(Shaza's mum and LBS
Distribution Manager)
for taking the chance and touring Tasmania.
